Partnering for Stronger Communities: SAFE and Achev

At SAFE (Survivor Advocates for Empowerment), collaboration is at the heart of creating meaningful change. We are proud to partner with Achev, an organization that has long been recognized for empowering newcomers, women, youth, and families through innovative programs and community support.

Our partnership with Achev is built on a shared belief that people thrive when they are connected to supportive communities, trusted resources, and opportunities to be heard. Together, we are helping create safer, more inclusive spaces where individuals can build confidence, find connection, and access the support they need.

SAFE currently participates in two important Achev initiatives: Stronger Together and RISE.

Stronger Together

The Stronger Together program supports newcomer women and their families by providing information, education, and opportunities to build social connections and community resilience. Through workshops and community engagement, participants gain valuable knowledge while developing networks of support that help them navigate life in Canada.

RISE

The RISE program focuses on helping women build confidence, develop skills, and overcome barriers that may impact their personal and professional growth. By fostering empowerment and leadership, RISE creates opportunities for women to strengthen their independence and achieve their goals.

Why Peer Support Matters

What makes our involvement in both programs especially meaningful is Achev's recognition of the value of peer support and lived experience.

At SAFE, we know that healing, growth, and empowerment are often strengthened when people connect with others who understand their experiences. Peer support helps reduce isolation, build trust, and create a sense of belonging that cannot always be achieved through traditional service models alone.

As a survivor-led organization, we believe that lived experience is expertise. Survivors bring unique insights that help shape more responsive, compassionate, and effective programs. When peer voices are included, communities become stronger and support systems become more accessible.

Our partnership with Achev demonstrates what is possible when organizations work together with a shared commitment to empowerment, inclusion, and community. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute a survivor-led perspective to programs that recognize the importance of both professional support and peer connection.

Together, we are helping build communities where survivors, newcomers, and women can find belonging, support, and hope.
