SL Hunter Speechworks Sponsors Specialized Therapy for SAFE Survivors

SAFE is deeply grateful to SL Hunter Speechworks, a leading Burlington-based speech therapy clinic, for generously sponsoring limited therapy services for two survivors in our community. Their support offers a meaningful opportunity for individuals affected by gender-based violence and traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) to access specialized communication services that are often financially out of reach.

SL Hunter Speechworks is a team of experienced Speech-Language Pathologists who provide trauma-informed, functionally focused therapy across the lifespan. Their clinicians are skilled in supporting individuals with TBIs, centering personally meaningful goals through informal assessments and collaborative goal-setting. This approach ensures that therapy is tailored to each client’s unique communication needs and everyday realities.

The clinic has extensive experience working with diverse populations, including Indigenous Peoples and gender-diverse clients, and is committed to creating culturally safe and inclusive therapy spaces. Services can be provided virtually via Zoom Healthcare or in person at their Burlington office, conveniently located across from the Appleby GO Station.

Through this sponsorship, two SAFE peers will receive targeted speech and language therapy on a needs basis. While therapy spaces are extremely limited, this offering represents a powerful act of support, helping survivors rebuild communication skills, confidence, and connections as part of their healing journeys. In addition to these pro-bono services, SL Hunter Speechworks is supporting these clients in applying for additional funding through the Compassionate Justice Fund and Life After Impact, which may broaden the communication supports available and extend access to other trauma-informed resources.

SL Hunter Speechworks’ generosity underscores how community contributions can create tangible change for survivors. Their trauma-informed, empathetic approach aligns with SAFE’s commitment to providing survivor-centered pathways to recovery.
