🗓️ Events in May - Sexual Assault Awareness Month

On Thursday May 16th, The Women's Centre of Halton is  bringing together individuals to support and empower victims and survivors of crime.

Join us as we stand together to advocate for change and support those affected in our community.


The event will consist of survivors sharing their stories providing a platform for empowerment, healing, and raising awareness about the experiences of victims and survivors of crime. There will be a panel discussion featuring experts, survivors, and advocates to share insights, experiences, and resources related to crime victimization and survivorship.


SAFE will be presenting a Survivor’s Perspective at the event. Additional speakers as follows:


  • Two survivors - sharing their stories offering powerful insights and inspiring others with their resilience and courage
  • Erin Stewart from Halton Victim Services Unit
  • Linda Rhodes from Nina’s Place- Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Care Centre
  • Jasvir Sanghera from Halton Regional Police

  • It’s very flat and 90% paved and we are walking beside the water the whole time.
  • There and back is about 45 minutes each way.
  • This is a reflective practice during the hike, providing a safe space for folks to reflect and discuss whatever they would like to.
  • It will include a “forest bathing” and meditative exercise. It is meant to encourage reflection, safe discussion, and appreciation of nature.

Come meet SAFE @ Halton Pridefest'24 on Saturday June 1, 2024 @ Hidden Valley Park in Burlington from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Pflag Canada network supports communities across the country. They provides peer support, education, and advocacy for a Canada that affirms, respects, and values all sexualities, genders, and gender expressions.
